What are you going to say? or What are you listening for?

Observable behaviours do not give us the whole picture. Our observations are driven by the perspectives we already have. Simple observations about a child or an event may not be sufficient.

With a commitment to understanding the ‘other’, perhaps our focus should not be on what we already know, but what we do not. Thus, the emphasis shifts on “Listening for the unknown”

Not knowing makes us curious. This curious context allows you to create a space where the ‘other’ can express him/herself. Asking questions, inquiring about the other from this revised context will introduce you to unknown stories and the underlying reasons behind his/her behaviour.

Here I am learning from a child about his stories, about his reasoning, about his reality. I am learning and there is a lot more to learn.
